The third heat wave of summer cthis will start Tuesday July 21 and will continue at least until Thursday 23according to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET). The body warns of an episode of very high day and night temperatures which will leave maximums of up to 44ºCwith the possibility of locally overcoming the 45ºC in the most affected areas.
The AEMET activated this Monday the orange notice in seven autonomous communities due to high temperatures. In some parts of the country the thermometers will reach up to 41 ºC, while other regions will remain under a yellow heat warning.
Seven communities on orange notice due to extreme heat
Andalusia concentrates a good part of the alerts. Córdoba, Granada and Jaén They remain in the orange level due to maximums close to 40ºCwhile Almería, Cádiz, Málaga and Seville continue under yellow warning, with temperatures expected to be between 37 and 39 ºC.
In Aragon, the province of Saragossa maintains the orange alert for records of up to 39ºCwhile the rest of the community remains at the yellow level. In Cataloniathe province of Lleida It also remains under an orange heat warning.
The situation will be especially intense on the Mediterranean coast. The Murcia Region and the provinces of Alicante and Valencia will register maximums of between 39 and 41 ºC. In the Balearic Islands, the orange notice only affects Majorcawhere temperatures close to the 39ºC.
Castilla-La Mancha is also facing an episode of very intense heat. The province of Albacete remains on orange alert for maximums of up to 39ºCwhile the rest of the community maintains the yellow warning for temperatures between 34 and 38ºC.
Furthermore, the Community of Madrid, Navarra, La Rioja and the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla continue to be under a yellow warning due to heat. Added to this are storm warnings in Albacete, the Valencian Community and the Region of Murcia.
The third heat wave will start on Tuesday
The AEMET predicts that on Tuesday the thermal rises will extend to practically the entire Peninsula, becoming the first day of this new heat wave. Maximums are expected between 39 and 41 ºC in the Ebro valley, the depressions of the northeast, the east of Castilla-La Mancha, the upper and middle riverbed of the Guadalquivir valley and the interior of Mallorca. In the Genil basin, temperatures will reach between 40 and 42 ºC, while in the interior of the southeastern third the values will range between 41 and 43 ºC, and may occasionally exceed 44 ºC.
Thursday could be the most extreme day
During Wednesday the thermal rises will continue, especially in the southwestern quadrant of the Peninsula. The forecasts indicate that temperatures of between 39 and 41 ºC will be repeated in the Ebro valley and 40 to 42 ºC in the Guadalquivir valley and the Genil basin. The southeastern third will once again be the most affected area, with maximums of between 41 and 43 ºC and peaks that could exceed 44ºC.
