The Aemet confirms that this Sunday the temperatures collapse in these areas of the Peninsula

There was already talk about End of summer And now the State Meteorology Agency (AEMET) confirms that it is this Sunday, September 21 when a good part of the Peninsula will see a general descent of temperatures, both of the maximum and minimum. It will not be a mere fall of mercury: it will be a thermal collapse that, together with the Atlantic trough, will leave rains and storms with active weather notices in up to a dozen autonomous communities.

Spain continues this new episode of instability marked by the arrival of an Atlantic front that will cross western to east in this new episode in this new episode. The panorama is foreseen as contrast as intense: while the Balearic Islands and the northeastern peninsular are prepared for very strong storms and significant accumulated in the Pyrenees and the High Ebro, the northwest will suffer a Thermal collapse that at some points will be qualified as “extraordinary”.

Meteorological notices for this Sunday 21

From the early hours of the day the heavens will be covered with clouds, with practically generalized rains in the Peninsula except in the southwest quadrant, which will be left out of the storm. In the rest, rainfall will be accompanied by storms, persistent in the north end and especially intense in Catalonia and Balearic Islands at the last minute. In the Pyrenees and the Alto Ebro, the accumulated water could reach outstanding figures, feeding concern for local floods and problems in mountain areas.

For this reason, the AEMET has activated meteorological notices in several autonomous communities. In Aragon, Catalonia, Navarra and the Basque Country, notices were activated at 03:00 in the morning. In Aragon it was an orange warning, which will fall yellow around 09:00 hours. In the rest they were yellow warnings, with the proviso that Catalonia will pass to orange warning about 10:00 a.m. while Navarra and the Basque Country will no longer be on alert before noon.

They are not the only notices. The Valencian Community will activate one at 08:00 hours that will be yellow and will be orange to the edge of noon, remaining active until the end of the day. On the other hand, Asturias, Baleares and Cantabria will also activate notices, yellow in the case of the Principality and the Cantabrian region, starting at 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. In Balearic Islands, the notice will be orange from 10:00 p.m.

Temperature drop

The contrast will come by the thermometer. The cooler air entry will bring an almost generalized decrease in temperatures, which in the northwest Peninsular will be remarkable and in areas such as the high Ebro and the Eastern Cantabrian will reach an “extraordinary” character, with collapses of up to ten degrees in just 24 hours. A fall that will end the summer environment of previous days, in an abrupt weather turn that will test those who had already kept the coat.

The Mediterranean will live a more ambiguous day: in the morning with lazy southern and east winds, but when the day will rol down west. The change will bring with him the entrance of the Cierzo in the Ebro Valley and the section in the Northeast, with gusts that could reach strong or very strong intensity. Meanwhile, in the Atlantic and the Cantabrian will blow winds of the West, reinforcing in the coastlines, which will add waves and maritime complications to the menu of the day.

Canary Islands will be in another scene, with variable cloudiness and Some weak shows on the islands of greater relief. The calima, far from disappearing completely, will retreat to the south of the archipelago, although it will continue to condition the visibility and air quality.
