Sustainable training for teachers

The foundation and the Ministry have inaugurated the first of the three jointly organized courses on sustainability, aimed at Vocational Training teachers throughout Spain and with content that must be taught in vocational training classrooms. This initiative is part of the commitments formalized between both institutions to promote and promote professional training courses related to the energy sector and sustainability.

The certified training “Sustainability applied to the productive sector” has content and teaching materials prepared by the Naturgy Foundation, in collaboration with the company’s Environment and Social Responsibility department, as an expert institution designated by the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports. .

This course, contemplated in the Organic Law on the Organization and Integration of Vocational Training, will be taught on a mandatory and transversal basis in all intermediate and higher level vocational training cycles starting this year. The module contemplates the environmental, social and governance challenges facing the planet, offering the keys to designing a sustainability plan and guaranteeing correct professional performance.

The training, given by professionals and experts from the energy and education sector, will be recognized by certification from the National Institute of Educational Technologies and Teacher Training (INTEF) of the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports. In addition, it will be available through Free access on the platform “Center for Innovation and Development of Distance Education (CIDEAD) of the Ministry of Education.

Since its launch in 2023, training in “Sustainability applied to the productive sector” has been given in a pilot format and also exclusively for 685 teachers in Asturias and Galicia.

Resources and support

The course is complemented with two theoretical-practical books from the “Vocational Education and Training in Energy” collection. The first publication addresses environmental and social challenges, providing keys to designing a Sustainability Plan. The second, with advanced content, thoroughly analyzes environmental and social aspects, delving into topics such as the circular economy, sustainable development and sustainability criteria in the professional field, as well as the analysis of a sustainability plan.

Both publications, free and accessible from the Naturgy Foundation website, offer valuable theoretical-practical resources for energy education and training, as well as proposals for application in the classroom.

In addition to these educational resources, which will have periodic updates, Fundación Naturgy will offer permanent support in matters of sustainability to teachers who request it.
