The State Meteorological Agency warns in its prediction for the July 10, 2026 that a core of cold air located over the Peninsula will trigger an episode of strong instability in the center and northern half.
During the central hours of the day evolution clouds will develop that will give rise to stormy showers, with special intensity in the communities of the inside. The warning highlights that some of these storms may be accompanied by very strong gusts of wind and, locally, intense rainfall, especially in the area of the eastern Iberian System and the western Cantabrian Mountains.
In the rest of the country, the clear skies, with some fog banks at dawn in Galicia and the Cantabrian coast, and with low clouds that will withdraw throughout the morning in the Strait, the Galician coast and the north of the Canary Islands.
Sudden gales and showers
The atmospheric configuration planned generates a contrast scenario that is difficult to ignore. While thermometers continue to skyrocket in large cities, the emergence of cold air in the middle and upper layers of the atmosphere will act as a detonating for the formation of organized storms.
The official forecast indicates that stormy showers will discharge preferably in interior areas of the northern half, where it is not ruled out that they reach strong intensity. The wind gusts associated with these storm cells could exceed the warning thresholds in several provinces, with special attention to mountain systems northern.

Aside from the storms, the heat will continue to be the protagonist in most of the country. The AEMET maintains the forecast that maximum temperatures will exceed 35 degrees in large areas of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, and they will go above 38 degrees in points of the Ebro valley, Andalusia, the Tagus and Segura basins, as well as in the Balearic archipelago. The capitals most affected by the heat will be Zaragoza, where they are expected 40 degrees, and others like Lleida and Girona, which will be around 39.

A moderate west is expected in the Strait and Alborán, and the gale will blow with moderate intensity in the Ebro and the Catalan coast.
