Saturday’s gadget: Xgimi MoGo 3 Pro, omnipresent projection

In the universe of projectors there are those of the highest quality, but an unequivocal size when it comes to placing them in the home and the smallest ones, some with the great advantage of portability, which dispenses with a little (or a lot) of quality and advanced specifications, to focus on weight and connectivity. In the middle is virtue and the Xgimi MoGo 3 Pro is an example of the latter.

After a month of testing this projector (barely a kilo in weight and very good quality, even on irregular and not so clear surfaces), there are several things to highlight. One of the first is that one of the accessories is a PowerBase tripod that includes a 20,000 mAh battery with USB-C charging and output, making the MoGo 3 Pro truly portable.

The sound is surprising for how small the device itself is, in fact, More than a projector, it looks like a medium-sized portable speaker: it withstands maximum volumes with easeit is very good at the extremes of bass and treble and on the outside no extra is missing.

Focused on portability, it weighs 1.1 kilo, The construction is solid with plastic and silicone parts, good ventilation and easy to place practically anywhere. The bottom line: the lens protector stands out for its good workmanship and provides a lot of peace of mind when taking it outside.

The design helps too: you pull the projector up to separate it from the speaker base, then rotate it to point it at a wall. Surprisingly, this arrangement only allows for a turn of up to 130 degrees. If it reached 180º it would allow us to use the ceiling as a projection surface.

The remote control is very small, minimalist: volume, hot keys to Netflix, Youtube, Prime and one configurable as a shortcut. The fact that the entire system has Google TV from the beginning makes it much easier to install applications without having to enter usernames or passwords.

In terms of image quality, this is an above-average projector, with HDR10 images and a 1080p resolution that look good, even when the brightness is not at maximum. Fan noise and typical DLP projection artifacts such as screen door effect and color wheel effect are well contained. The Xgimi setup retains the stunning optics of more expensive models like the Horizon Pro, ensuring sharp focus and corner-to-corner image quality.

Speaking of focus, the built-in firmware is optimized for portability with features like motion-activated automatic keystone correction, obstacle avoidance, and screen alignment. In layman’s language: The projection updates automatically and quickly every time we move the projector. And with solvency.

Verdict: The Xgimi MoGo 3 Pro is an excellent option if we want to alternate between home and outdoor projections. The battery is solvent and the possibility of adding an external battery makes it more tempting. If we think about its price (500 euros) it may seem expensive, but we are getting a television with very good resolution in an almost pocket-sized space.
