Reminders, the new WhatsApp function for states

The function of States came to WhatsApp in 2017. It is one of the functions that most resembles the app Goal with other social networks, allowing for ephemeral publications accompanied by text, audio, video or images. They only last for 24 hours before disappearing forever, and that sense of urgency, along with the gossipy nature of many users that has allowed social networks to build their empire, does the rest.

But the fact that they are so brief also means that you can miss a lot if you are not continually checking the Status section in the app. Now, WhatsApp has launched a new function to the public that aims to alleviate this problem: status reminders.

According to the specialized media WABetainfo, the function has been in development for some time, but WhatsApp already considers it mature enough to release it among some users of the beta version for Android. 2.24.22.21available on Google Play for those who are signed up for it. It will soon be deployed to more users.

Reminders are notifications that will reach the user with the aim of don’t overlook posts from ‘relevant’ statuses. WhatsApp thus considers those made by the contacts selected by the user as Favorites or others whose statuses you see frequently. It’s especially useful for those with a long list of contacts, which makes it easier for these updates to go unnoticed.

Users of beta version 2.24.22.21 for Android who have access to the new feature you will not find it activated by defaultbut they will have to do it manually. The option is found by following the route Settings > Notifications > Reminders.

It is an automatic function over which the user has no control other than activate or deactivate it. The choice of contacts for which reminders are provided and the frequency is made by WhatsApp automaticallywithout the user being able to influence it.
