The heat wave has taken hold on the peninsula due to a North African ridge, which has also caused an Iberian oven. This phenomenon has raised thermometers above 44 degrees in some areas and, what is worse, the minimum night temperatures have remained at very high values, so getting to sleep without the help of a fan or air conditioning has become an almost impossible mission in many areas. The truth is that during the summer months, it has to be hot and every year several episodes like this are repeated with greater or lesser intensity. On this occasion, the second heat wave has arrived immediately after the first, in a month of July in which there has been greater instability than usual.
The question now is, how long will the high temperatures and “hellish nights” last? Well, according to weather models, Heat will be the general trend in the country for at least another 48 hours. Starting on Friday, the day before the weekend, a front will cause temperatures to drop significantly in some areas and bring back rainfall, although it is not possible to rule out a dry storm caused by the intense heat.
Thus, during today all of Spain will be on orange alert due to high temperatures. except the Region of Murcia, La Rioja and Navarra. Temperatures in Badajoz could exceed 44 degrees. Much of the country is on alert for possible fires.
Significantly high temperatures in most of the interior areas of the Peninsula and areas on the southern slopes of the Canary Islands. Periods of strong winds on the coasts of Galicia.
Thus, the forecast is that in most of the country a stable situation will continue with high temperatures and predominantly clear or partly cloudy skies. Only in the north of Galicia and the Cantabrian area will there be some cloudiness, with possible fog banks early in the day and a probability of weak and scattered precipitation, being somewhat more probable in the Mariña de Lugo. In the afternoon, the evolving clouds will appear in the Cantabrian, Iberian and Central systems and the Pyrenees, with the possibility of some scattered showers in the eastern area of the Pyrenees and some dry storms in the eastern Iberian area. A haze is probable at high altitude in the Canary Islands, without ruling out its presence in the area around Alboran.
Temperature increases in most of the country, more noticeably in areas of Malaga and Cadiz, with drops in maximum temperatures in the far north. Temperatures will exceed 35 degrees in most of the interior of the southern half of the peninsula and the interior northeast, the northern plateau, areas of southern Galicia and the south and interior of the Canary Islands. Temperatures of 40 or higher are likely in large areas of the southwestern quadrant of the peninsula. Minimum temperatures are not expected to fall below 25 degrees on the coast of Almería.

Stability will continue to be the norm in most of the country and only in the north of Galicia and the Cantabrian area will there be cloudy skies, with the possibility of light and scattered precipitation not being ruled out. In the afternoon, developing clouds could reach central and eastern areas of the peninsula, with a low probability of showers that could occur in a scattered manner in the eastern area of the Pyrenees and the Iberian Peninsula. There could also be some isolated storms, dry or with very little precipitation, in inland areas of the eastern third. In the Canary Islands, cloudy intervals in the west of the archipelago and predominantly partly cloudy skies in the rest, with developing cloudiness in the interior of the most mountainous islands, with precipitation not being ruled out in Tenerife. The haze will tend to decrease.
Maximum temperatures will tend to decrease in the western third of the peninsula and Levantewith increases in Alboran, and with little change in the rest. No major changes are expected in the minimum temperatures.

In the afternoon, cloudiness is expected to develop in areas of the centre, east and south of the Peninsula, with Possibility of dry storms in the interior of the eastern third and Central system, without ruling out the possibility of light showers in some cases. The temperaturess will tend to decrease in the southern half and the archipelagos and will rise in the upper Ebro and north of the northern plateau. Even so, it is likely that the maximum temperatures will continue to be above 35 degrees in the interior of the southern and northeastern half of the peninsula, the northern plateau and the southern slopes of the Canary Islands, although in smaller areas than in previous days. In the Canary Islands, trade winds will blow, with probable strong intervals in the channels between the islands.
