No more Spam and other news announced by Google

Yesterday a great event was held, broadcast globally, about Google's new bets for the future. Obviously, Gemini was at the center, as were some characteristics that soon They will reach email, search engine and phone calls. These are the most important announcements.

Artificial intelligence will be the axis

According to Google, at the base of all of Google's superpowers will be Gemini Nano, a language model that takes advantage of Google's Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) and is now in its sixth generation.

This technology allows Google's AI to understand and respond to many different types of input, from text, images, audio, and even video. As an example, several presenters on stage showed their interactions with Gemini through different mediums, from uploading a PDF to Circle, searching, video, and talking on your phone. The AI was able to understand everything and process it. Google says this is the core of the new “Gemini era.”

Circle to Search for everyone

This technology debuted in February at a Samsung event and allowed you to circle something on the screen with your finger and Google shows a label that explains it. It was only available on certain Samsung and Pixel phones, but the technology is now part of Android. But there is more.

Circle to Search is also becoming more context-aware and will be able to help with homework, particularly solving equations. You can circle a difficult math problem and Google will help you with the steps you need to take to solve it. It can also instantly decompose complex chemical formulas. You will be able to help with more complex equations and formulas later this year. Or summarize a news story in clearly understandable points. Google said AI overviews will come to most of its products, including Search, Gmail and Google Docs.

A map with your name

Google Search is changing forever (which doesn't mean for the better, we'll see that over time). The change will be first for the United States and later in the year for the rest of the world. Search will work with Gemini. That means we can forget about scrolling through lists of blue links, since everything will be personalized. AI overviews provide concise summaries of search results and allow access to email, calendar, and maps to provide relevant details… In exchange for more data from us.

And for those moments when words cannot express what we are looking for, Google Search now allows you to record videos directly from the search bar on your mobile. Search can offer results based on what we recorded.

Gemini's dual personality

The new Gemini will offer dynamic, personalized responses and will be able to understand the context and nuances of conversations. In short, it will be more advanced. And included in these improvements is the ability to personalize it using pieces of information called “Gems,” which means you can provide all kinds of personal information to Gemini and it will remember these “Gems” in its responses. This means, on the one hand, that we will give more personal information to our devices (read Google) and on the other, that integration with other types of hardware that is not a smartphone (for example, smart speakers, TVs, etc.) will still be elderly.

Goodbye to Spam?

Google introduced smart call detection tools a couple of years ago and today it introduced a new way to combat scams. Android will use the Gemini Nano's device intelligence to listen to calls in real time, analyzing conversation patterns for red flags commonly associated with fraudulent callers. It will notify you with a warning message the moment it detects fraudulent activity and you can end the call with the touch of an on-screen button.

Because it's powered by the Gemini Nano device's AI, it doesn't need the cloud. That means it can help you even if you don't have a data connection and your calls remain private.
