Israel launches two strikes in Lebanon in response to Hezbollah rocket barrage

The Israeli army attacked two towns in southern Lebanon early this morning in response to the launching, hours earlier, of 30 rockets by Hezbollah, most of which were intercepted by air defense systems. One of them fell in the area of Beit Hillel, in the north of the country, and several others in open areas without any casualties, according to a military statement.

“Shortly afterwards, the Air Force attacked the Hezbollah launch vehicle from which the projectiles were fired,” the statement added. The Israeli armed forces bombed a point near the Lebanese town of Marjayoun, some 8 kilometres from the border, Efe reported.

“Air Force fighter jets attacked the Hezbollah terrorist organization’s launcher from which launches were detected from the Marjayoun area in southern Lebanon, and other terrorist infrastructure in the area,” they announced on their X social network account, referring to the Al Adeisa area, which has already been the scene of the exchange of aggression between the Hebrew State and the Lebanese armed group.

In addition, Israel launched an artillery attack against the Odaiseh area, also very close to the border, to “eliminate threats”without specifying further details in this regard.

The launching of this barrage of projectiles by the pro-Iranian militia comes shortly after the Army announced the death of a member of this, Nazih Abed Aliin the Bazuriya area in southern Lebanon, whom he identified as an “important terrorist of the southern front” of the Lebanese Shiite group.

Israel said its elimination “represents a serious blow” to the capabilities of Hezbollah’s southern front, in aAt a time of maximum tension in the region, when the Shiite group vowed revenge for the assassination of its top military chief, Fuad Shukr, last Wednesday.

The border between Israel and Lebanon is at its highest point of tension since 2006, with an intense exchange of fire since October, which has claimed the lives of at least 583 people, most of them on the Lebanese side and in the ranks of Hezbollah, which has confirmed 356 casualties of militants and commanders, some in Syria.

In Israel, 47 people have been killed in the north, of whom 22 are military personnel and 25 are civilians, including the 12 minors and teenagers killed in the attack on the Druze town of Majdal Shams in the occupied Golan Heights.
