He forest fire declared last Thursday in the Sierra Norte of Guadalajara, it faces a new day of work after becoming the largest recorded this year in Castilla-La Mancha. The fire continues beyond its extinguishing capacity and has already devastated some 26,000 hectareswhile the operation maintains the protection of the population and inhabited areas as a priority.
The evolution of the flames has so far forced evacuations 34 locations and to keep another 14 confined, with more than 1,200 people affected. Furthermore, the fire maintains a perimeter greater than 120 kilometers and continues to advance on several fronts, especially in the northern area, where surveillance continues due to the risk of it reaching the province of Soria.
During the last hours, those responsible for the emergency have begun to move from a strategy focused exclusively on the defense of the towns to a more offensive one to try to contain the advance of the fire. Although the fire is still far from being controlled, the operation assures that the recorded growth has been lower than in previous days and that some sectors close to the affected towns have managed to stabilize.
Hundreds of troops from different administrations participate in the extinction work, with the support of the Military Emergency Unit (UME), the Ministry for the Ecological Transition, the Community of Madrid, Castilla y León and Andalusia.
