Artificial intelligence (AI) continues to gain prominence in global economic development, and Puerto Rico is interested in being part of that transformation.
With the aim of analyzing the impact and opportunities that emerging technology can have on a variety of companies and sectors on the island, especially in its generative version, El Nuevo Día -in alliance with Agencia EFE- launches its first day of the Speaker Series 2026 with the conversation “AI revolution: an opportunity for business in Puerto Rico.”
The forum will take place next Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Caribbean Cinemas, Plaza Las Américas in San Juan.
On this occasion, El Nuevo Día and EFE bring together AI experts and leaders from the public and private sectors in Puerto Rico to analyze how the new technology – which, although it had been available for almost half a century, did not become widespread until the launch of Chat GPT – is already redefining key economic sectors while presenting opportunities for companies of all types and sizes, new entrepreneurs and professionals.
The event will feature keynote presentations and multi-sector panels.
Herbert Lewy, general manager of Microsoft for Central America and the Caribbean, will offer a global vision of the development of AI and its projection in Puerto Rico.
The first panel will address the transformation of strategic sectors such as education, banking, health and digital infrastructure. The second panel will focus on the impact of AI on human talent and small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs).
Among the participants are the Secretary of Economic Development and Commerce, Sebastián Negrón Reichard and the Secretary of Academic Affairs of the Department of Education, Beverly Morro. Executives from leading organizations such as Banco Popular, Abarca Health and Claro will be part of the conversation.
Beyond a technical focus, the day of talks seeks to promote an accessible and dynamic space for exchange, aimed at both executives and entrepreneurs interested in staying at the forefront when it comes to integrating technology into a company’s operations.
