Connecting innovative talent in the energy sector

One more year, and now there are five, Naturgy has once again confirmed its commitment to emerging talent and the transformation of the energy ecosystem through the launch of the fifth edition of “Connecting Energy”, its incubation program for startups. This initiative, which has already supported more than 40 projects in previous editions, seeks to accelerate the development of innovative solutions in areas such as operational efficiency, sustainable mobility and renewable energies in the field of sustainable energy.

Throughout the four previous calls, “Connecting Energy” has contributed to accelerating projects of various kinds, from technologies linked to operational efficiency to sustainable mobility solutions, and has incubated more than 40 startups, allowing them to develop a business plan, create a proof of concept or prototype their solution.

New call

In this new call, 12 startups have been selected to participate for six months, with the support of 25 expert mentors from Naturgy, in key areas such as renewable generation, biofuels, energy efficiency and process improvement.

Among the selected projects, proposals based on artificial intelligence to optimize solar installations and predict energy production, technologies to transform plastic waste into clean hydrogen, digital platforms for solar distributors and automatic gas meter reading systems stand out.

The program will culminate in April 2026, in the so-called Demoday, where the startups will present their progress before a jury of experts, investors and representatives of the sector and in which, in addition, one of them will be selected to validate their project, thanks to a pilot within the company Naturgy, who will receive additional support valued at 25,000 euros.

In previous editions, projects that have stood out for their contribution to the digitalization, sustainability and efficiency of the energy sector in Spain have been awarded.

Specifically, in the first edition, the winner was the Clevergy project, a platform for marketers and installers that allows the improvement of the relationship with customers and centralizes operations. The Evorgy project, with a digital platform aimed at operations and maintenance for installers in the solar sector, was the winner of the second edition. In the third call, recognition went to the startup Calpech, with a project to develop iron nanoparticles applied in environmental decontamination and energy recovery. Last year, the winner of the fourth edition was the Sevillian startup Biomixing, an initiative that emerged in 2022 as a spin-off of the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Fluid Mechanics of the University of Seville, and which is dedicated to the optimization of bioreactors.
