Castile and León has once again joined today the demands raised by the majority of the autonomous communities within the Plenary of the Sectoral Conference for Digital Transformation, related to the Component 15 of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Planfocused on digital connectivity, the promotion of cybersecurity and the deployment of 5G.
Within the connectivity initiatives, The Government has delegated investments to communities aimed at actions to strengthen connectivity in industrial estates and logistics centers, as well as in public reference centers, to the issuance of digital vouchers for vulnerable groups and to actions to improve telecommunications infrastructure in buildings.
The Minister of Mobility and Digital Transformation, María González Corral, recalled that the communities published the calls corresponding to digital connectivity actions in 2023, according to the requirements included in different Royal Decrees of the Ministry. The lack of correspondence of the eligible lines to the reality of the needs, expressed from the beginning by the autonomies, is has been revealed in the lack of demand by citizens for these subsidies, not arousing any interest and causing the absence of the applications that were necessary, the counselor has assured.
The communities have been demanding the extension of deadlines and the modification for more than a year of the conditions to improve the interest of the initiatives they manage from Component 15. In a letter sent this week, signed by 15 autonomous communities, they have also proposed the possibility of allocating the subsidies to the realization of the projects really necessary in each autonomy and demanded by citizens.
In the plenary session of the Sectoral Conference for Digital Transformation, the counselor, together with the representatives of a good part of the autonomous communities, have once again highlighted these demands, rejecting the additional distribution of funds in the conditions established by the Ministry, “for not adjusting to the reality of Castilla y León”it is finished.
