The Aljub space, an ancient underground water tank from the 12th century attached to the museum, will host a meeting that will bring together artists and professionals from science, design, anthropology, ecology, urban planning or human rights to propose models of responsible transformation. An initiative promoted by Es Baluar Museu and the Consell de Mallorca, which promotes contemporary creation as a tool for thought and transformation.
Mercedes Martín and Davi Garro, director of Biennial – B, have been the co-directors of the event and it will be the meteorologist who will present it, as well as the strategic lines of this initiative that seeks to generate spaces of convergence between the humanities and sciences, in recognition of the need to reconcile knowledge to face the challenges of the future.
Under the motto “Inhabiting the Future”, the conference program includes conversations, presentations and projections by international figures who will provide a multidisciplinary approach to create an enriching dialogue on the challenges when talking about “inhabiting the future”.
The conference will include, among others, Musimbi Kanyoro, a relevant figure of global leadership in human rights and gender justice, and Salvador Rueda, founder of ecosystemic urbanism and creator of the superblock model.
The congress will close on Saturday with a guided tour by David Barro, director of the Baluard Museu, to the exhibition The Labyrinth Without Walls by the artist Jannis Kounellis, the screening of the animated film Mariposas Negras, winner of the Goya award for best animated film, followed by a discussion with its director David Baute. The closing presentation will be given by Odile Rodríguez de la Fuente, biologist, scientific communicator and president of Rewilding Spain.
