The leader of Vox, Santiago Abascalhas issued a warning to the Spanish people after Pedro Sánchez announced the call for general elections for next November 29. The leader has asked citizens to go to the polls in person instead of voting by mail.
“I encourage you not to vote by mail. Vote at the ballot box, because right now I don’t trust absolutely anything that Pedro Sánchez can do“said Abascal in a message broadcast by Vox after his intervention in Public Mirror.
The words of the president of Vox come at the beginning of a new political scenario after Sánchez’s decision to end the legislature and call Spaniards to the polls. Abascal, who learned of the electoral announcement during the morning, has assured that his party is prepared to face the campaign.
Abascal assures that Vox is prepared for the elections
During his interview with Susanna Griso on Antena 3, Abascal explained that he faces the early elections without wanting to anticipate what will happen in the coming weeks. The leader of Vox has defended that his party is prepared for the appointment with the polls and has avoided accepting the scenarios that the polls may draw before the vote.
The Vox leader has also recalled the experience of the 2023 general elections to justify his caution regarding the polls. His intention, as he stated during the interview, is to focus on the campaign and wait for the citizens to determine the result on November 29.
Abascal has also taken advantage of his time Public Mirror to once again charge against the management of Pedro Sánchez’s Government. Among the issues discussed during the conversation were the housing crisis, the situation in Ceuta and the next general elections.
Ceuta and housing, also in the interview
Asked about the situation in Ceuta, the Vox leader has defended the position that his party has been maintaining on border control and has once again criticized the Executive’s actions during the migration crisis.
Housing was another of the issues that occupied part of the interview. Abascal has held the Government responsible for the evolution of the problem in recent years and has questioned the measures promoted by the Executive after the rejection in Congress of the decrees proposed on this matter.
The leader has also referred to his relationship with the leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo. Abascal has acknowledged that there are differences between both parties, although he has avoided anticipating possible post-election scenarios and has placed the focus on the campaign that is now beginning.
With the electoral advance already announced, Vox thus begins to prepare the appointment of the November 29. And Abascal wanted to leave a specific recommendation to citizens from the first moment on how to exercise their right to vote: go to the polls in person and not resort to voting by mail.
