Naturgy Foundation promotes its plan “Adding Energy for Valencia”, an initiative aimed at contributing to the recovery of areas affected by damage through actions that combine sustainability, energy efficiency and social support. Within this framework, the People-centered axis is developed, which includes a call for aid aimed at social organizations that have suffered the impact of the serious floods, with the aim of facilitating the energy rehabilitation of its facilities.
Through this call, Naturgy Foundation finances seven rehabilitation projects in different affected municipalities, with a maximum endowment of 20,000 euros per initiative. This line of aid not only supports the recovery of affected spaces, but also the improvement of their energy efficiency.
The main objective is to support entities that have played an essential role during the emergency and in the subsequent recovery phase, allowing them to restore their activity in optimal conditions and even improve their infrastructure. The seven selected organizations carry out diverse activities in areas such as social inclusion, care for vulnerable groups, training and sports.. Overall, the aid will have a direct and indirect impact on nearly 5,000 peoplebetween beneficiaries, professionals and volunteers.
To guarantee the technical rigor and adequate selection of the projects, the Naturgy Foundation has had the collaboration of Energías Sin Fronteras, a specialized entity that has carried out the analysis of the applications and the identification of the initiatives with the greatest need and social impact.
Benefited projects
Among the beneficiary entities is the Citizen Movement Foundationwhich has allocated aid to the replacement of doors and windows at its headquarters in order to improve the thermal insulation and energy efficiency of the building. This action will optimize the conditions of use of a space in which nearly 300 people and 30 volunteers participate each month. «This aid allows social entities, without sufficient resources, to take steps to improve our natural environment via energy savings. With the Sumando Energías por Valencia initiative we can guarantee that it is an efficient and energy-sustainable space,” says Iciar Barrasa Ventura, coordinator d’Activitats of the Citizen Movement Foundation.
For its part, the Valencian Federation of People with Intellectual Disabilities will develop a comprehensive rehabilitation and energy adaptation project for a seriously affected premises in Aldaia. This space will be used as a training center for people with intellectual disabilities. “For an entity like ours, it is an enormous boost: it allows us to continue growing, improve services and offer real opportunities to people with disabilities,” emphasizes its general director, Rosa Galindo Casanova.
In the field of care for children and adolescents, Capuchin Tertiaries Luis Amigó School Farm will carry out the installation of new air conditioning equipment. This intervention will improve the thermal comfort of the facilities and contribute to the well-being of young people and adolescents in vulnerable situations, while reinforcing awareness of sustainability and the responsible use of energy.

Likewise, the Association of Rehabilitated Alcoholics of Torrent and Region (Artic) will undertake the comprehensive renovation of its center’s air conditioning systems, which had become obsolete and damaged after the damage. The action, which covers both floors of the building, will offer an adequate and comfortable environment for people. Alfonso López, president of Artic, points out: “It was a great need to implement this improvement and thanks to the Naturgy Foundation we can now enjoy it.”

Its director, César Sempere, emphasizes that “with the help, we receive the necessary energy to resume activity in the form of renewed and updated light.”
Finally, the Nova Feina Foundation has allocated the aid to the rehabilitation of its premises, improving the energy efficiency of the space in which they develop socio-labor insertion programs aimed at unemployed people in situations of risk or social exclusion.
