Vox crusade against rental aid of up to 900 euros for illegal immigrants: And what about the Spaniards?

Vox’s crusade against illegal immigration and its “privileges” has a new objective: the aid for paying rent for immigrants in an illegal situation that move to the so-called “autonomy phase”. Specifically, it refers to those asylum seekers or beneficiaries who have already passed a previous reception phase in centers and now have “skills to live independently in society”, according to the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration.

For them, the Government of Pedro Sánchez contemplates aid for paying rent ranging from 445 to 923 eurosdepending on the number of people who will reside in that home. Likewise, they can also request other coverage, such as the payment of a deposit equivalent to two monthly payments and rental insurance. Beneficiaries may request these aids by a maximum period of six monthsextendable for six more, depending on their vulnerability. However, it must be noted that this aid, received within the framework of the International and Temporary Protection Reception system, is incompatible with the “subsistence” aid offered by other administrations.

At this point, the formation led by Santiago Abascal uses housing policy, or rather, the absence of it to reproach the Executive the abandonment of the Spanish. “Why does the Executive finance housing policies favorable to immigrants when the majority of Spaniards, especially the youngest, are incapable of accessing housing?” Vox reproaches in a parliamentary question registered in the Congress of Deputies. Because, in the opinion of this formation, Sánchez “prioritizes access to housing for foreigners” and wonders “what emergency measures the Executive will take to put an end to this situation.”

How much is the aid?

The reception system also includes aid for maintenance, basic needs, personal expenses, specific health benefitstraining, transportation or even birth aid… which would further increase the amount received by the beneficiaries. For this reason, Vox questions the Government in writing to find out first-hand “how much the total budget that the Government has allocated to housing policies for immigrantswhether managing it directly or through NGOs”.

Although the immigrants who are in the “autonomy phase” have nothing to do with those who will request regularization in our country in the coming weeks, Abascal’s party maintains that Spaniards must have priority in accessing social aid. This was stated just a few days ago by the Vox candidate for the Andalusian Regional Government, Manuel Gavira, who insisted that as long as there are Spaniards with unmet basic needs, the administration must direct resources towards them.s before people from other countries.

“First those at home”

However, it should be noted that housing is not Vox’s only battlehorse against illegal immigration. On March 10, the Council of Ministers approved the Royal Decree that guarantees access to public health care for foreigners who live in Spain without legal residence. The decree determines that to access health services a “responsible declaration” will be necessary from the person requesting it, in which they must prove that they do not have health coverage by any other means. At that time, you will receive a provisional document that will allow you to immediately access assistance in all autonomous communities.

A measure that, in Vox’s opinion, is not only an “offense” for the Spanish people but also causes a “call effect.” Abascal himself claimed the “national priority” and stated that “Spain cannot be the hospital of the entire world”. In addition, the royal decree makes the requirements to prove residence in Spain more flexible, accepting not only registration, but also school certificates, social services reports or utility bills.

And in this line of thought, Vox launched just a week ago a new political offensive in Catalonia with which it seeks to place issues such as the priority of access to social aid, housing or security at the center of the debate. The motto? “First those at home”. An approach that is not limited only to the Catalan sphere, but is also on the table in the political negotiations that Vox maintains in other communities autonomous regions such as Extremadura, Aragón and Castilla y León.
