14 years after its launch in Android, Samsung has decided to bring its popular mobile browser to Windows. Samsung Browser arrives with the objective of standing up to google chrome by creating a more complete ecosystem for Galaxy users with ‘new agentic AI capabilities’ and ‘continuity between devices’. This global launch comes several months after the company launched a beta version of the desktop browser for testing in USA and South Korea.
Samsung Browser for Windows includes the usual set of features you’d expect from a desktop browser, including the ability to sync bookmarks and browsing history between your phone and PC. Also allows you to resume browsing on one device exactly where you left off on another. In addition, it incorporates exclusive Samsung functions, such as Samsung Passwhich helps securely store login information and autofill personal data.
The browser also incorporates an AI-powered assistant developed in collaboration with Perplexitywho understands the context of the web page you are on and also what is happening in the tabs you have open at that moment. For example, if you’re viewing a travel blog about Spain, you can ask the assistant to create a four-day itinerary based on the content of the article and it will generate it for you. You can even summarize and compare information from multiple open tabs at once.
AI is also smart enough to help you find a specific part of a video without having to manually advance. It understands the content of the video and can jump directly when you tell it to. You can also search your browsing history using natural language. Instead of trying to remember keywords, you can ask it to find ‘the smartwatch I was looking at last week’, and it will show you the correct page.
As with the beta, Samsung Browser for Windows is available for devices with Windows 11 and Windows 10 (version 1809 and later). Agentic AI features, however, are limited for now to users in the United States and South Korea.although Samsung has indicated that it plans expand its availability to more markets in the future. You can download it directly from the Samsung Browser website.
